Sterling 2.1.4 – PDF Icon and MS Word Doc Icon not displaying

We greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This is small bug in Sterling 2.1.4 and solution is outlined below. This fix will be added to the next release of Sterling. Thank you so much for letting us serve you.

Overview

This article provides a fix for Sterling 2.1.4. There is small bug in this version where PDF and MS Word shortcode icons do not display. Here are the steps for correcting the issue:

General Instructions:

  1. Make minor adjustments to style.css
  2. Download updated sprite.png image

Option 1:

This option provides the updated style.css all ready to rock-and-roll.

  1. Download updated style.css  ← right-click and choose “save link as…”
  2. Download updated sprite.pngright-click and choose “save link as…”
  3. Upload style.css to root directory of your theme
  4. Upload sprite.png to /images/global/
  5. That’s it! Refresh your webpage and all will be well.

Option 2:

Same solution however use this option if you prefer to manually make the coding changes to style.css

  1. Make necessary coding changes to style.css (details outline below)
  2. Download updated sprite.pngright-click and choose “save link as…”
  3. Upload style.css to root directory of your theme
  4. Upload sprite.png to /images/global/
  5. That’s it! Refresh your webpage and all will be well.

style.css coding changes:

- Scroll to line 5359 in style.css and change code to:

.icon-ms-word:before {
	background-position:0 -6113px;
}

- Scroll to line 5379 in style.css and change code to:

.icon-pdf:before {
	background-position:0 -6186px;
}
